THRIVE-S

Thrive-s is a research study focused on children who are tube-fed. For this project, I designed a logo that reflects both sensitivity and growth. On this page, you can explore the full design process, from early sketches to the final result.

PROCES

On this page, I’ll take you through the process of creating a logo, a project I also used for my internship assignment. I learned a lot during this process, like how important it is to communicate clearly and keep asking for feedback, even when you’re already happy with your design. I also realized how valuable it is to step out of your comfort zone, because what you like might not be what the client is looking for.

First, I received the briefing from Monique. At that time, I didn’t have direct contact with the clients yet, so all communication went through her. After reading the briefing and asking a few questions, I started researching the target audience and began sketching. You can see those sketches here.

After sketching on paper, I moved straight into Illustrator to continue developing my ideas digitally. Of course, I started by searching for the right font and wow, that was quite a task!

I wasn’t completely sure yet which fonts I liked best, so my internship supervisor advised me to start experimenting with visual marks first and choose fonts based on those. That’s exactly what I did. I tried out several different logo marks, some bold and large, others more subtle, to create more variety in style and feel.

After a lot of experimenting, I narrowed it down to four concepts and created even more variations based on those. Together with my internship supervisor, we selected the strongest four and put them into a presentation to be sent to the client.

In the end they those this logo:

I was really happy, because they did't have any corrections and really liked it!

I personally would't have chosen this logo, I actually liked the first one I made a lot more.. but I'm glad I made more than just that logo. (first logo in the presentation)
